Part Time In-House Legal

The Elevator Pitch

Big businesses have for years enjoyed the benefits of having their own in-house lawyers, who focus on understanding the business.    In-house lawyers do help save money but they also deliver a different service, more aligned with the needs of the business and more responsive to its priorities.

We will pair you up with a lawyer who will:
  • provide pragmatic first line advice on everything
  • understand your business and have an overview of its operations
  • aim to prevent problems, not just pick up the pieces later
  • organize the legal affairs of the business, improve governance and decision-making
  • work to ensure exit & investment readiness

The Nuts and Bolts

Whenever you have a legal issue, you should take it to your in-house lawyer. Most of the time they will be able to resolve it on the spot, sometimes they may suggest getting specialist advice.  But they will always add value and save you time and money.

We expect to deal with:
  • commercial agreements including customer t’s and c’s, supplier agreements, distribution and marketing agreements, joint ventures and partnerships
  • shareholders agreements, articles, employee share schemes, directors’ duties
  • HR matters such as employment contracts, compromise agreements, HR policies, directors service agreements
  • Protecting and licensing IP
  • Insurance, banking, pensions and whatever else you throw at us

The Small Print

If one lawyer could do everything, there would be no need for specialists, so it’s important to appreciate that your in-house lawyer won’t be able to answer every question. Things like litigation, tax and property are, like brain surgery, almost always the remit of specialists, and for good reason.

We work on a fixed day rate and agree upfront a service level that is right for you, subject to a minimum of 1 day per month with a minimum term of 6 months.
